- My Story
- Born in 1875 in Massachusetts, the youngest of 4 children to the editor/printer of the town newspaper and a housewife. Was engaged to a local gentleman, son of a business owner. A month before the wedding, he broke things off, instead marrying the daughter of a prominent Bostonian. Distraught, Amber agreed to trail along with her older sister, Mariel, and her family to Texas where they intended to start a new life.
The travel to Texas took several months since the family transported all of their worldly goods with them. In Texas, things were not easy! The family undertook hard physical labor to get their dream ranch up and running.
Amber eventually met a young man in town who introduced her to others at the local saloon. She is eager to make friends and falls in quickly with a small group of local card sharks. She's fast to learn and is conning the locals and stealing money from card tables in no time.
One day, Amber's brother-in-law spots her in the saloon, "working" and forbids her from returning to his home. She takes all her worldly possessions and stolen money and travels towards California.
On the way, she stops in Tombstone. While she doesn't easily like the town, it has a certain rough wildness that she finds appealing. It's a town she could get lost in. There's enough outlaw activity that her past is minor in comparison!
She meets another newcomer very soon after her arrival, the Pastor Loran Mah. The pair begin to court....until the arrival of two strangers in town. Elwood Martian and Ivy Lexington, a former friend, both of Texas, appear in Tombstone. They file a report that she stole money from Elwood. After hiding out for three days, Amber turns herself in to the Sheriff's office. After serving time in Texas, she returns to Tombstone, left by the pastor, but a different woman.
Amber's path led her to St. John's, a town run by the Wild Bunch. While she attempted to live modestly off savings, the money quickly ran out and she joined up!
