Ma name? Well they call me Forrest Leichter, But some of my friends jus call me Woody.
My Story
Well as near as I recollect, I'm in my 34th year. I was borned in the fall of 1864 jus south of Weyauwega in Waupaca county in the great state of Wisconsin . I come from humble stock, farmers, and lumber folks mostly, But my Pa was a wagon maker and blacksmith from what ma said. I never really new my Pa..he got took to join the army durin the great war between the states before I was borned...and never came back. Dont rightly know what ever happened to him but we heard stories that he died as a prisoner in some rebel camp somewhere in Georgia. But none too sure bout that
So Ma and us youngens managed as best we could with what we had. Then in the winter of 72 my older Sis Elizabeth got the fever and passed then shortly after. That left Jus Ma, Me, and my lil brother Newton. Times where hard but we managed. Ma worked for rich folks cleanin, and cookin, and sewin for em. The poor women darn near worked her self to death tryin to take care of us.
It pained me so to see her work so hard for so lil pay that I promised her that I would make good on all she did fer us somehow, so in the spring of 78 I packed a gunny bag with some britches, some tack and my daddy's ol knife and things and headed out on my own headed west. didnt know where I was headed or what i'd find but I was big now..hell..almost 14! and had a strong back. I would ride the rails, then when I got to some town I would do odd jobs. Heck my first jobs was as a shoeshine boy in some small town that I reckon now I dont even remember the name of. I'd shine them shoes fer 5cents a gent. then when I had me enuff money I would keep on west jus doin small jobs on farms, ranches, what ever I could round up Hell..in the summer of 82 I even got me a job in one of them thar houses where the ladies would take the Gentlemens upstairs for a while. NO, Not doin that HaHa, my job was to run errands for the proprietor of the establishment..like to the dry goods dealer, the notions store, and to fetch the Doc if one of the ladies got knocked around a bit. Oooh the stories I could tell. If I recollect proper, that was in Kansas
I kept makin my way west, then in the month of October of 86 I ended up in Tonopah Nevada. There I met and old timer who went by the name of Shorty Harris, he jus happened to be an ol prospector. Boy the stories he could tell. yes he was quite the character I do tell. Ya wanna here something funny? whenever he would get skunked on the whiskey, He called it "oh Be Joyful" he would see a penguin! HaHaHa! and he'd swore that darn thing would foller him everyplace he went HaHaHa. I'm Here to tell ya, it was quite a site to see this ol codger out in the middle of the desert thinkin hes seein a penguin!
After me and him split up I went to work in the silver mines around places like Manhattan, Belmont, bullfrog, Rhiolite, and Goldfield. Boy, what a life i'll tell ya.
In may of 90 I was sittin in a saloon in Goldfield jus mindin my own bizness when the sheriff came in askin who might want to be a deputy as the last one done got his self shot some how. Nobody raised a hand so I figured what the hell, and raised mine. He looked around then looked back at me and said "well boy, I guess your my new deputy" then he tossed me a tin star and said to put it on. I done told him I didnt even have a gun or nuttin, but he said not to worry as I could have an ol one left by one of the former deputies..he said it had never been fired, and only dropped once and that it would be good nuff for me.
So, there I was a young man from the woods of Wisconsin now a deputy in the big city of Goldfield Nevada. Holy smokes what a sight I must of been HaHaHa. But I learned fast and tried to do my best...then it all went ta crap
In the spring of 94 I met a girl, and a perty one at that. I was juss gettin done with a shave down at Fry's barber & Baths..when the most pertiest girl walked by, I had seen her before but it had been a long while since I layed an eye on her, as I was told she was back east goin to one of them fancy learnin schools. But now she was pert near a real lady i'll tell ya. I sure was smitten with her. She was the middle daughter of Gunther Mazi, one of the richest, and most feared men in them parts of Nevada. He made all his money off the miners and the surrounding mining camps. Mostly dry goods and supplies for the men in the fields. He had so much money there was even talk of him fixen to run fer governor.
Well me and the lady, her Name was Jenice by the way, started courtin and Her daddy was not happy, nope, not happy atoll. One Evenin I was on duty and was told that there was some kinda ruckus going out behind Smitty's saloon. when I got there there wernt no ruckus but out from the shadows lepped Jenice's eldest brother, William. As Usual he was half drunk and saying something bout how He and his daddy didnt like me much, and that I was to stop courtin her. I told him to go to hell!! then He got the draw on me. He Fired but missed..Now member he was drunk and it was dark..I then drew down on him and gave him 3 in the belly! I then went to wake the sheriff and done told him all that happened but at the same time Her daddy showed up and demanded that I be arrested for the murder of his son, Jenice's brother. I'll tell ya, I was skeered.
So there I was sittin ina cage for something that was self defense. Bout that time the sherrif came in and was talkin at me bout how the territorial judge and Gunther Mazi was ol drinkin friends and how I needed to git out of town as fast and as far as I could as he new I was being framed and set up, and that he would hold off the posse as long as he could. So I headed out of town on the sheriffs horse as fast as I could ride. then just as I get out of town, who do I see waitin for me?? It was Jenice!!. She had heard all bout what had happened and new what her brother was capable of tryin and had worked out the plan with the sheriff.
We rode, and rode, and rode till we couldnt ride no more, Day and night for 2 days. After that we sat on top of a ridge and rested a spell. We didnt see no trails of dust from where we just came and figured we would be wanted for a while. Finally after crossin a boiling desert we saw the lights of a city off in the distance..it was Tombstone!! and thats where we is today, juss lookin for a place to call home, and make a life..a new life at that...so If ya happen to see us around be sure to say howdy!
My Real Life
RL?..I'm here to kinda forget about real life for a while LOL
I can understand the need for Elbow room. I live as close to the edge of Henderson as possible. Eventually, I'll probably move to Bullhead City, or even Goffs, California....that's more my size of "town". Why a horse? Well, I thought being a critter might be more interesting than being a person. And, being a domesticated critter means I don't have to worry (as much) about being shot at. Though,. I'm tempted to get a coyote or something and chase people around when it gets boring. I have my person (Abby), but have played her very little.
